H2V FOS AND THE PORT OF MARSEILLE FOS

H2V FOS and the Port of Marseille Fos have announced the construction of an industrial facility to produce green hydrogen with the aim of decarbonising activities in the Fos industrial port zone.

A record investment of €750m has been made to create six 100MW production units, giving a total capacity of 600MW, which will produce 84,000T/year of renewable hydrogen by electrolysis of water.


These production units will come on stream in 2026 and in stages until 2031.


The project will

 

  • avoid 750,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere every year
  • •create 165 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs

This 600 MW facility will be developed on a 36-hectare site, as part of the CSF NSE (Comité Stratégique de Filière Nouveaux Systèmes Energétiques) project for the Southern Basin.

The site is strategically located, combining strong industrial potential with a leading seaport.

A veritable logistics hub, the project is situated at the crossroads of European freight transport networks (Ten-T Corridor). The project represents an investment of €750 million, with the aim of avoiding 750,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere every year.

The Port of Marseille Fos, as an investor port, is participating in the capital of the project led by H2V, which aims to decarbonise port areas through a cleaner industry tailored to the needs of the region.

Since 2016, H2V has been investing in, developing and building large-scale renewable hydrogen production plants (100 MW or more) to decarbonise sectors that have a particularly high CO2 impact, such as industry and heavy mobility.
